Day the Fifth
December 5, 2008
I am fascinated with Verhojansk, Russia (you may be bored to tears, but then again, no one is reading this marvelous blog, ‘ceptin me) and to spice up the text here’s a WunderMap™ image. Unfortunately the map could not be copied and pasted here so that’s a link to the city(?) image.
Let’s see if the Google Map can be pasted here… NOPE! Seems one must do the work yourself. Appyt is the place Google recognizes, not Verhojansk though V shows up on the Appyt map and V is the airport recognized by Weather Underground.
Just thought you were waiting with baited breath (worm on tongue?) for that information.
This seems to be turning into a weather report, be that as it may, here’s the latest from dear old Verhojansk -64 °F / -53 °C Smoke. Yikes!! That’s cold.
Even more.. Astronomy for December 5, 2008. Length of Day 2h 14m and Tomorrow will be 9m 51s shorter.
Today’s effort is adding photos to this blog. Not having too much success as yet. Well, no success is more like it. Let’s try some more. Well, copying and pasting didn’t work…

There it is.
I enjoy Dark Roasted Blend and this image was on the Wednesday, November 26, 2008 post.
I’m tired now. It’s 5:20 am and I’m going to rest for a while .
Till we blog again, happy trails, pardner. Ron

Okay, now you’ve got me interested in Verhojansk, Russia. So tell us more. have you been there?
December 5, 2008 at 8:19 am
No, Lisa. Never been nor do I intend to go there.
I am intrigued with Weather Underground and when using Wunder Map I got to the continental level and saw these dark dots with extraordinary temperatures. I made Verhojansk a favorite and glance at it now and again. It’s just fascinating to feel chilly where I am and realize the extremes others live with.
Thanks for you comment and I appreciate your skillful blog.

I’m thinking about going to Russia next fall/winter. This is not encouraging!

No, but go anyway and let us know of your travels. Thanks for the comment, Amanda. Took a look at your blog and find you an intrepid adventurer. Be well and go where lots of people have gone before. Cause they write guide books about those places. Ron

Hi Amanda, The other day you sent a comment. Looking at the Verhojansk
site I checked out the section marked Read travel tips for Verhojansk hotels!
When I did there was a post about Hotels in Siberia and there’s a link to the review.
Be well and happy trails,
Ron
